So many animals, so many people, so many tears, so much laughter, sadness, anger, pride, guilt, excitement, elation, satisfaction – and if you can think of any more emotions then I’m sure they would be here too.

40 years ago this June – I was 26 years old when I took in that infamous tawny owl back in 1984 (there, now you all know how old I am!).

It’s been a rollercoaster, I’ve loved it and I’ve hated it but the good times have far outweighed the bad. It’s been hard work, and it still is but today the workload is now shared by an incredible team of fantastic people – staff, volunteers, trustees, patrons and of course our members, supporters and the general public. Without the financial support we have received since day one, we wouldn’t be here today, treating over 7,500 wildlife casualties every year.

So I hope that you will all join us to celebrate 40 years of Helping Britain’s Wildlife and that we continue to get the vital support we need to carry on, improve and expand the work we do.
