Vale Wildlife Hospital treated 6945 wildlife casualties in 2019 and is one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the UK.

We are available to help wildlife casualties 24/7.

Vale Wildlife Hospital is facing unprecedented challenges due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

As a small charity Vale doesn’t have large financial reserves to fall-back on and has survived

‘hand-to-mouth’ since its inception in 1984.

The charity has never been in such a dire situation – we are both morally and professionally obliged to provide

emergency treatment to casualties requiring it, meaning that we don’t have the option of closing our doors.

We already have patients in our care, including over 100 hedgehogs, and with casualties still being brought in

daily we have no choice but to keep the hospital running.

We have already had to take radical actions to try to reduce the risk of spreading the virus to our staff & service

users, as well as attempting to mitigate any long-term damage to the hospital:

• We have had to close our Evesham charity shop which raises approximately 1/3 of our annual income.

• We have had to reduce our staffing levels, including laying-off casual workers and volunteers.

• We have cancelled our annual Open Day which is our single largest fundraiser.

• We have cancelled several Hedgehog First Aid & Care courses which we hold both onsite and at

venues nationally – these usually provide a regular income.

• The ’lockdown’, whilst keeping patient admissions down, will result in the reduction of ‘face-to-face’ contact

with service users thereby reducing spontaneous donations which often come with patients.

There are very few wildlife hospitals in the UK and to lose Vale would be a tragedy for our

sick & injured wildlife, not to mention the loss of 25 jobs.

We receive no government funding towards our enormous running costs and are appealing

to the public and businesses to help secure Vale’s future and ensure we

can continue to keep helping Britain’s wildlife.

We are onlyDonate-Button-DFA able to continue the work that we do with the help of public support. We do not receive any funding towards the £40,000 monthly running costs so donations are a vital form of income for the charity. Please click the ‘Donate’ button if you would like to give an immediate single donation or to set up a regular direct debit (through Charities Aid Foundation).

If you are a UK taxpayer, don’t forget to fill in a Gift Aid declaration which will enable us to claim a further 25p in every £1 given (follow the link at the bottom of this page).

Becoming a Member of Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre keeps you up-to-date with what is going on in the hospital, the casualties undergoing treatment and the stories of some of the rescues we have been involved with. Members receive regular Newsletters full of information about the casualties coming into the Hospital, articles on various wildlife species, details of upcoming fundraising events plus much more.

As a paid-up member you are also able to have a ‘behind the scenes’ look at what goes on within the hospital (by arrangement). For obvious reasons we are not open to the public (this would be extremely detrimental to the well-being of the wild animals in our care) so this is the only opportunity, apart from our occasional Open Days, to see what actually goes on on a day-to-day basis, watch our staff, vet and volunteers at work and see the hundreds of animals that are receiving care.

Our Members are vital to us, giving us a regular income and helping to fund all the work that we do at Vale.

Paying your subscription by direct debit or standing order also saves us precious funds, as does having your Newsletters delivered by email rather than by snail mail.

Membership costs just £20 per year (£12.50 for Senior Citizens) Lifetime Membership is £250.00.
